No. 23 UMass Boston Edges Endicott In Extras, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team fell to No. 23 nationally ranked UMass Boston, 3-1, in 10 innings on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at North Field.

Tied 1-1 in the top of the 10th inning, UMass Boston struck for a pair of runs via a sacrifice fly and a double to improve to 10-6 overall on the season.

Beacons' reliever Joe Maguire (Peabody, Mass.) was credited with the win (1-1) behind two scoreless frames, while Bobby Tramondozzi (Peabody, Mass.) worked around one baserunner (HBP) in the 10th for his fifth save of the year.

UMass Boston opened up the scoring in the contest with a fielder's choice RBI in the second before Endicott answered in the third on a run-producing groundout by Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.).

From there, innings four through nine turned into a pitchers' duel as both teams combined to give up just four hits. During that span, only five baserunners found their way into scoring position (Endicott: 3 (1 in 4th, 2 in the 8th | UMass Boston: 2 in the 9th).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, Endicott leads the all-time series, 8-5.
