SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Endicott baseball team defeated No. 4/4 nationally ranked Trinity (Tex.), 5-4, on Sunday evening to wrap up its three-game weekend series against the Tigers.

Endicott starter Joseph Oriola (Pembroke, Mass.) earned the win (1-0) on five innings pitched, three hits, three runs (all earned), one walk, and a team-high five strikeouts.

Victor Molle (Peabody, Mass.) shut the door over the next three innings (1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K) and Will Bryant (Cumberland, Maine) picked up the save via one inning of work, one hit, one run (earned), three free passes, and two punchouts.

Meanwhile, Tigers' reliever Ian Hussian (Minneapolis, Minn.) was tagged with the loss (0-2) on 4 1/3 innings, four hits, two runs (both earned), one walk, and a game-high six strikeouts.

Like the first two games of the series, Endicott took the lead first this time with a three-spot in the second inning. Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.) started the scoring with an RBI single to left field, while Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) added two more runs for the Gulls in the inning with a line drive single up the middle.

Trinity responded in the bottom of the second with a three-run homer, but Endicott countered with a John Duffy (Stratford, Conn.) sac fly in the sixth and an Anthony Macchia (Ridgefield, Conn.) RBI single in the seventh to come away with the win.
