Nationally Ranked Concordia (Tex.) Tops Endicott, 7-2

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Endicott baseball team fell to nationally ranked Concordia (Tex.), 7-2, on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the Lake Myrtle Athletic Complex.

Taylor Barksdale (Burnet, Texas) earned the win (3-1) on two innings pitched, one hit, no runs, and two walks. 

Meanwhile, Endicott starter Joseph Brown (Poultney, Vt.) was handed the hard-luck loss (0-1) via four innings of work, five hits, four runs (one earned), one free pass, and three strikeouts.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Gulls pushed across two runs on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout off the bat of Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.) for their only lead of the matchup.

From there, the Tornados scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth to improve to 17-3 overall on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Concordia (Tex.) is ranked No. 11 via D3baseball.com, No. 16 by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and No. 37 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
  • Kyle Brennan (Wallingford, Conn.) and Matt Bald (De Pere, Wis.) both collected their fourth multi-hit game of the season, while John Duffy (Stratford, Conn.) recorded his third in the loss.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Endicott (4-4) takes No. 6 Rowan on Thursday, March 21 at 11 AM in Auburndale, Florida at the Lake Myrtle Athletic Complex (Field 7).
