No. 3/4 Southern Maine Claims 7-1 Victory Over Endicott

GORHAM, Maine — The Endicott baseball team lost to No. 3/4 nationally ranked Southern Maine, 7-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Ed Flaherty Field.

Huskies' starter Tanner Laberge (Windham, Maine) picked up the win (1-0) on six innings pitched, four hits, one run (earned), four walks, and three strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Endicott starter Kyle Wollman (East Berlin, Conn.) received the loss (1-1) via four innings of work, seven hits, four runs (all earned), no walks, and one punchout.

The Gulls struck first in the contest when Brendan McDonald (Quincy, Mass.) plated Jordan Carvalho (Rehoboth, Mass.) from third base with a two-out single up the middle in the second inning. 

From there, Southern Maine answered with the tying run in the third, three more runs in the fourth, a solo run in the sixth, and a pair of runs in the eighth to push its winning streak to five straight games.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Dan Cacciola (Saugus, Mass.) went 2-for-2 with a walk. He now has seven multi-hit games this season.
  • The Gulls have played the 14th toughest schedule in the country this year according to D3baseball.com.
  • Southern Maine is 6-0 at home this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (18-11) travels to Roger Williams on Saturday, April 20 for a conference doubleheader starting at 12 PM. No. 3/4 Southern Maine (21-4) visits Babson on Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 PM.
