NCAA TOURNAMENT: Women’s Tennis Blanks Sarah Lawrence, 5-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Sarah Lawrence, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at host MIT (DuPont Tennis Courts).

In doubles play, the Gulls received victories at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 1 slots, in respective order, to jump out to a commanding 3-0 advantage.

Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) / Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) turned in a convincing 8-1 win at No. 2. 

Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) followed with an 8-2 triumph at No. 3, while Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) / Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) completed the sweep at No. 1 (8-3).

In singles action, Keaveney made quick work of her opponent at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0) and Fitzgibbons clinched the match at No. 2 with an identical score.

Endicott (14-7) plays No. 7 nationally ranked MIT tomorrow in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at 12 PM. Sarah Lawrence sees its 2021-22 season come to a close at 10-4 overall.
