Women's Tennis Takes Down Salve Regina, 7-2

NEWPORT, R.I – The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Salve Regina, 7-2, on Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Antone Academic Center.

Endicott swept doubles as the pairings of Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas), Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) / Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.), and Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) notched victories at No. 1 (8-0), No. 2 (8-1), and No. 3 (8-0), respectively.

Meanwhile, in singles play, Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) registered a quick 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 to give the Gulls a 4-0 advantage and Guster clinched the match at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph.

Endicott also saw Hoover (No. 1, 6-4, 6-1) and Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) post victories (No. 4, 6-3, 6-4) in singles action to round out the highlights.

"We were productive working on offensive patterns today," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We have to keep building in practice, but we are moving in the right direction."

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-1, 2-1 CCC) will hit the road again and travel to Holy Cross (2-0) on Wednesday, September 22 at 3:30 PM. Salve Regina (1-3, 1-2 CCC) will also play away from home when it pays a visit to Curry (2-3) on Wednesday, September 23 at 3:30 PM.
