Women's Tennis Advances To CCC Championship With 5-0 Win Over Gordon

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Gordon, 5-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals on Thursday evening at the South Campus Tennis Courts.  

In doubles play, the top-seeded Gulls received wins from Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) at No. 1 (8-7 (7-3)), Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) / Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) at No. 2 (8-2), and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) / Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) at No. 3 (8-0).

Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Keaveney then carried that momentum into singles with victories at the No. 6 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 4 (6-0, 6-0) spots, respectively, to punch Endicott's ticket to the CCC Championship.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Today's match was played to decision due to CCC Tournament rules.
  • The Gulls have beaten the Fighting Scots in their last 22 matchups. 
  • Berler improved to 6-2 overall in singles play (excludes tournaments).
  • Hoover/Trevino are undefeated as a doubles pairing this season (4-0).
  • Keaveney/Henry are also 3-0 in doubles this year.

No. 1 Endicott (8-4) hosts No. 3 Roger Williams (13-1) in the CCC Championship on Saturday, October 23 at the South Campus Tennis Courts.
