Women's Tennis Triumphs Over Wheaton (Mass.), 6-3

NORTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Wheaton (Mass.), 6-3, inside the newly renovated Beard Field House on Monday evening.

Endicott swept doubles play allowing the Gulls to garner an early 3-0 advantage. 

The doubles pairings won their matches in respective order: Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) / Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) at No. 3 (8-1), Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) at No. 2 (8-5), and Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) at No. 1 (8-6).

In singles play, Uyeda breezed to 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 (6-1, 6-1) and Berler clinched the match at No. 4 (6-4, 6-2).

"We need to continue working on our finishing patterns in certain situations," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "But overall we did a nice job handling the indoor courts and staying focused on the controllables."

BEYOND THE BOX 

  • Endicott has swept doubles in its last four Division III matches.
  • The Gulls have won their last five meetings over the Lyons.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (5-2, 4-1 CCC) will travel to Gordon (3-1, 2-1 CCC) on Thursday, October 7th at 3:30 PM. Wheaton (2-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) will compete in the NEWITT Tournament on Friday, October 8.
