Women’s Tennis Bests Nichols, 6-2

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team defeated conference rival Nichols College, 6-2, on Wednesday evening at the South Campus Tennis Courts.

Endicott swept doubles to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles and never relinquished it.

The doubles pairings for Endicott included Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) at No. 1, Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) / Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) at No. 2 (8-5), and Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) / Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) at No. 3 (8-5). 

Meanwhile, in singles, Guster pushed the Gulls' lead to 4-0 with a decisive 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2 and Berler clinched the match with a quick 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 5.

"We did a lot of good things today between strategy, positive attitude, and effort," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Hopefully, we can build off today for tomorrow's match at Holy Cross."

  • Endicott extended its winning streak to three straight matches today.
  • Guster is undefeated at No. 2 singles this season (3-0).
  • Hoover improved to 3-1 at No. 1 singles.

Endicott (4-1, 4-1 CCC) will travel to Holy Cross on Thursday, September 30 at 3:30 PM.

Nichols (6-2, 4-1 CCC) will continue its stay away from home and take on Salve Regina this Saturday, October 2 at 12 PM.
