Berler/Guster Bring Home CCC Player/Rookie Of The Week Honors

CCC WEEKLY RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott junior Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week, while Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) received the nod for CCC Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Berler picked up two singles wins in the CCC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, while playing at the No. 6 position. She won her matches against Gordon in the semifinals and Roger Williams in the Championship in straight sets without dropping a single game. Her victories were the fourth point in each of the Gulls' 5-0 sweeps.

Guster went undefeated in the CCC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament playing as part of the Gulls' top doubles pair and as their No. 2 singles player. Her doubles matches were tightly contested as she and her partner battled the top duos from Gordon and Roger Williams. In the semifinals against the Fighting Scots, Guster needed a tiebreaker to earn the 8-7 victory. She avoided the tiebreak in the CCC Championship against the Hawks with the 8-6 result. In singles play, her 6-1, 6-2 win in the Championship match was the title clincher as Endicott earned the 5-0 sweep. Her semifinal match went unfinished, but she had taken the first set in that match as well.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (9-4) will represent the CCC in the NCAA Division III Tournament later this spring.
