Assumption Slips Past Women’s Tennis, 4-3

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team lost to NCAA Division II program Assumption University, 4-3, on Saturday evening.

Today's match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I and II rules which only awards one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of 3, one point). This is in contrast to NCAA Division III rules which awards one point for each doubles flight won by a team.

In doubles, the Gulls took the point behind victories from Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) / Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) at No. 2 (7-6 (7-2)) and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) / Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) at No. 3 (6-1).

In singles, the Greyhounds won four straight matches at No. 3, No. 2, No. 1, and No. 4, respectively, before Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) earned victories at No. 5 (6-2, 6-3) and No. 6 (7-5, 7-5) to conclude play in the match.
