CCC SEMIFINALS: No. 1 Endicott To Host No. 4 Western New England On Wednesday

BEVERLY, Mass. – The top-seeded Endicott men's soccer team (12-5-2) will host fourth-seeded Western New England (10-9-0) on Wednesday, November 2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals at Hempstead Stadium at 4:00 p.m.

PREVIOUS MATCHUP: The Gulls defeated the Golden Bears, 2-0, on October 15th in the regular-season matchup between the two squads.

POSTSEASON HISTORY: The Gulls have qualified for the conference tournament in the past seven consecutive years, and 16 of the 22 years since Endicott became NCAA Division III varsity program. Endicott is making its sixth appearance (third consecutive) in the CCC Semifinals and  is in search of its first-ever CCC title after reaching the championship match last season.

NO. 1 ENDICOTT (12-5-2) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Gulls advanced to the CCC Semifinals with a 3-1 victory over No. 8 Eastern Nazarene on Saturday, October 29. The 2016 squad saw a program-best seven student-athletes recognized on the All-CCC teams. Senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) was named CCC Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) took home CCC Rookie of the Year under the direction of sixth-year head coach Joe Calabrese, who was voted Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons.

Endicott placed three on the All-CCC First Team as Weinstein was joined by junior midfielder Robert Hartan (Hebron, Conn.) and junior back Ryan Cohane (Easton, Conn.). Couchot was slotted on the All-CCC Second Team alongside junior back Brendan McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.). Junior forward/midfielder Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) and senior back Jonathan DeJesus (Bridgeport, Conn.) rounded out the Third Team members.

Couchot leads the Gulls with 10 goals and four assists (24 points) on the season. 10 goals in a single season is the second-most by a rookie in program history behind GNAC Rookie of the Year Eric Cheli (12) and CCC Rookie of the Year Jordan Daniel (12) in 1998 and 2012, respectively.

NO. 4 WESTERN NEW ENGLAND (10-9-0) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Golden Bears advanced to the CCC Semifinals with a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Roger Williams on Saturday, October 29. Western New England placed four on the All-CCC teams as junior forward Troy Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) highlighted the list of honorees with his selection to the All-CCC First Team. Senior goalkeeper Kevin Strobel (Rockland, Mass.) and junior midfielder Logan Pingree (Middletown, Conn.) were named to the second team, and senior defender Brandon Bolger (Saratoga, N.Y.) earned a spot on the third team.

Remillard leads the squad with 29 points (13 goals, three assists) that ranks third in points and second in goals, respectively, in the conference.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The winner will compete in the CCC Championship on Saturday, November 5 at a site and time to be determined. The CCC Tournament champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championship.
