CCC QUARTERFINALS: Gulls Advance To CCC Semifinals With 3-1 Win Over Eastern Nazarene

BEVERLY, Mass. – The top-seeded Endicott men's soccer team moved past No. 8 Eastern Nazarene, 3-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinals Saturday evening at Hempstead Stadium.

Freshman forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) and junior forward Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) scored in the third and 13th minutes, respectively, and assisted on each other's goals.

Couchot added an insurance tally in the 80th minute as junior forward Diego Maillo's (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) cross in the box was deposited into the back left of the net.

Junior back Nicholas Fernandez's (Foster, R.I.) header was the lone goal for the Lions off a corner kick from senior midfielder Jacob Nason (Southport, England) in the 86th minute.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tonight's match saw the Gulls improve to 18-1-1 all-time against Eastern Nazarene with the lone loss coming back in 2007.
  • The Gulls have outscored the Lions, 54-9, in all-time the series.
  • The Gulls out-shot Eastern Nazarene, 21-5, including a 11-1 margin on goal.
  • Senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn) did not have to many any saves as he improved to 12-5-2 on the season.
  • Couchot leads the team with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists for his first career match recording at least one goal and one assist in the same match.
  • Five points (two goals, one assists) in a single game is a new career-high for Couchot.
  • Couchot also scored twice against Eastern Nazarene earlier this season.
  • Neukom notched his fifth goal and fourth assist for the first match this season with at least one goal and one assist in the same match.
  • Maillo earned his first assist of the season.

FOR THE FOES

  • Senior goalkeeper Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) stopped eight shots for the Lions as he fell to 5-8-0 on the season.
  • Fernandez recorded his first goal of the season.
  • Nason picked up his second assist of the season.

NOTES

  • The Gulls won the regular-season meeting, 4-0, as Couchot scored twice and Endicott scored a season-high four times.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 1 Endicott (12-5-2) will host No. 4 Western New England in the CCC Semifinals on Wednesday, November 2 at Hempstead Stadium at a time to be determined.

No. 8 Eastern Nazarene (6-11-2) sees its season come to an end.
