Gulls Edged By Babson, 1-0

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team was edged, 1-0, by the host Babson College Beavers Sunday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field in non-conference action.

A scoreless first half was broken up by first-year forward Youcef Ziad's (Holbrook, Mass.) second goal of the season on a feed from senior forward Adam Villari (Landsdale, Pa.) in the 48th minute for the only score of the day.

Freshman forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) registered the Gulls' only shot on goal in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) made one save in goal as he fell to 8-5-2 on the season.
  • The Gulls are 3-4-2 against non-conference opponents this season.
  • Endicott was shut out for the third time this season.
  • One corner kick is Endicott's lowest total of the year.
  • Babson is ranked 10th in the latest NSCAA regional poll, while Endicott is ninth in the same poll. 
  • The Beavers are now 3-0-0 all-time against Endicott although the teams had not met since the 2000 season.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Beavers out-shot Endicott, 7-6, including a 2-1 margin on goal.
  • Babson extended its unbeaten streak to eight straight matches.
  • Junior goalkeeper James Takami (Kenmore, Wash.) made one save to post his fifth clean sheet of the year for the Beavers and improved to 8-4-3 on the season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (8-5-2, 5-1 CCC) will play its last home match of the regular season on Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. as the Gulls welcome the University of New England to Hempstead Stadium.

Babson (8-4-3, 4-1 NEWMAC) hosts WPI on Saturday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m.
