Gulls Shut Out, 2-0, By Daniel Webster

NASHUA, N.H. – The Endicott men's soccer team suffered 2-0 road loss at Daniel Webster College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Eagle Field.

Senior back Michael Ottman (Kennebunkport, Maine) gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute as he converted a penalty kick, the first against Gulls' senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) this season.

Daniel Webster added an insurance goal as sophomore midfielder/forward Matheus de Farias (Lowell, Mass.) connected on a bicycle kick in the 25th minute on a feed from senior midfielder Alex Carvajal (Medellin, Colombia).  

Despite out-shooting their opponent by an 18-14 margin, the Gulls were held scoreless for just the second time this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Daniel Webster won the first meeting between these two teams in recent history.
  • Endicott is 3-3-2 against non-conference opponents this season.
  • Weinstein made six saves as he fell to 7-4-2, (4-1-0 CCC) on the season.
  • Freshman midfielder Jesse Martinez (Walpole, Mass.) took a game-high/career-high seven shots (four on goal) for the Gulls in the defeat.
  • The Gulls are ranked No. 9 in the New England region in the latest NSCAA DIII October 11 Poll

FOR THE FOES

  • Junior goalkeeper Cooper Hall (Heber City, Utah) stopped 11 shots as he improved to 4-3-3 in net and earned his fifth shutout of the season.
  • Ottman recorded his fourth goal of the season (tied for team-best), while de Farias registered his second goal of the season.
  • Carvajal picked up his team-leading fourth assist of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (7-4-2, 4-1-0 CCC) travels to face Western New England on Saturday, October 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Daniel Webster (6-4-3, 2-0-2 NECC) hosts Pine Manor College on Thursday, October 13 at  3:30 p.m. in the third match of six-match homestand.
