Three Gulls Highlight Field Hockey CCC All-Conference Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. — Eight members of the Endicott field hockey team have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Abby Antonelli (Worcester, Mass.), Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.)  Meghan Lehouiller (Colchester, Vt.) highlighted the list of award winners by receiving Co-Rookie of the Year, Co-Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors, respectively.

Swanson and Lehouiller were named to the All-CCC First Team alongside Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.), Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.), and Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.).

Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.) and Maddy Young (Hingham, Mass.) were all chosen to the CCC All-Conference Second Team along with Antonelli to round out the list of accolades. 


Co-Offensive Player of the Year | ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Tori Swanson | So.| F | Farmington, Conn.

Swanson put together a stellar sophomore campaign for the Blue and Green with 21 goals in total (second in CCC). Her 1.10 goals per game ranked 15th in NCAA DIII.

She produced a league-high five winning goals including versus Roger Williams in the CCC Championship game.

The speedy sophomore generated 2.32 shots on goal per game this season as she ranked third in the CCC in goals per game and second in points per game.

Swanson manufactured her first hat trick against Cabrini on September 30 and has had seven games scoring two or more goals.

This is Swanson's first career All-Conference Honor.


Defensive Player of the Year | ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Meghan Lehouiller |Sr. | D | Colchester, Vt.

Lehouiller played a key role in the Gulls' back line all season long, which resulted in allowing 30 goals all season (second in CCC) and recording seven shutouts in total.

This season she registered seven defensive saves (2nd in CCC, 17th in DIII) with two coming in league play.

Lehouiller manufactured her second career goal against Worcester State on September 21 and disturbed three assists for a personal-best five points this season.

This is Lehouiller's second career All-Conference Honor (2022, Second Team) and the sixth Gull to receive the Defensive Player of the Year award.


Co-Rookie of the Year | ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Abby Antonelli | So. | M | Worcester, Mass. 

In her first collegiate season, Antonelli started all 20 games and recorded three game-winning goals (6th in CCC).

Her sudden impact in the center of the field made her a key playmaker for Endicott. Antonelli found the back of the goal five times, ranking sixth on the team and 17th in the conference. 

The sophomore dished out four assists and generated 14 points. Was second on the team in game-winning goals with three.

Antonelli scored her first multi-goal game against the University of New England in Endicott's CCC semifinal victory.

This is Antonelli's first career All-Conference Honor


ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Alexis DeMattia | So. | GK | Methuen, Mass.

In 1054:33 in the cage for the Gulls, totaled a stymieing 1.42 GAA (25 goals allowed, 2nd in CCC, 44th in DIII) and 105 saves in 19 starts. DeMattia ranks third in the CCC with a .808 save percentage (18th in DIII). 

Three times this season DeMattia recorded 10 or more saves including 12 in a win over at the time No. 12 MIT.

The sophomore posted four shutouts in 20 games played. 

This is DeMattia's first career All-Conference Honor. 


Maddy Dengler | So. | F | Winchester, Mass.

Dengler posted 14 tallies which ranked second on the team and third in the conference.

The sophomore notched a career-high 34 points in 20 games this fall. She was third in points and third in shots on goal in the conference.

Dengler scored two multi-goal games against Salem St 9/4 and then a month later versus Castleton 10/4 this fall.

This is Dengler's second career All-Conference Honor (2022, Second Team).


Reagan Hicks | So. | M | Barnstable, Mass.

Hicks' consistency and steady play in the midfield allowed her to bury a career-best 10 goals and seven assists in 2023.

The sophomore ranks sixth in both goals and points to go with fourth in assists within the league.

Hicks recorded an in-conference best 2.80 shots on goal per contest.

She ranks fourth on the team in goals and points while second in assists.  

This is Hicks' first career All-Conference Honor.


ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Kathleen Reissfelder | Jr. | F | Westwood, Mass.

Reissfelder was a steady attacker and applied pressure on the defense with swift decision-making at the top for the Gulls.

Reissfelder scored 11 goals, ranking fifth in the conference and third on the team. Her unselfish nature on the turf was in full effect this season as she led the conference in assists with 11 feeds (39th in DIII). 

The junior totaled 33 points this fall, a career-high, which is fourth in the conference and third on Endicott.

She cashed her first career hat trick against Wheaton (Mass.) on September 9. 

This is Reissfelder's first career All-Conference Honor.


Maddy Young | Jr. | D | Hingham, Mass.

Much like Lehouiller, Young played a key role for the Gulls putting the clamps on opponents aspiring goal-scorers. 

Young produced a defensive save in the Gulls' CCC Semifinal victory against the University of New England to advance to the CCC Championship.

The Hingham native also added her first two points on two dimes this fall.

This is Young's first career All-Conference Honors.


WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (16-4) secured the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Tournament with a 2-1 win over Roger Williams in the CCC Championship.

The Gulls host the Ithaca Bombers for the first round of the NCAA Tournament on today, November 8 with a 4:00 PM start time at North Field.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will travel to take on Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, November 11 at 10:00 AM.
