CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Endicott Prevails Over Roger Williams, 2-1

BRISTOL, R.I. — The second-seeded Endicott field hockey team defeated first-seeded Roger Williams, 2-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.

Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) got the scoring started just over four minutes into the game (4:14) to give the Gulls early momentum in the contest.

Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) doubled Endicott's lead three minutes later (7:22) off a feed from Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.).

The tally held true as the game-winner despite coming early in the matchup thanks to a stifling Gulls' defense.

Roger Williams was able to break up the shutout at the 32:15 mark via CCC leading scorer Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.), but Endicott limited the Hawks to just one shot (wide) the rest of the way to secure the conference championship.

In net, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) made one save to move her record to 15-4 on the season.
