Field Hockey Downs Spartans, 6-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team defeated Vermont State Castleton by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday evening at North Field.

Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) recorded her second consecutive multi-goal game and dished out an assist in the win. 

Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) also notched two goals for the Gulls, marking her second multi-goal game this season. 

The Blue and Green found some late insurance from Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) and Jenna Seibold (Reading, Mass.) in the fourth quarter (57:01, 59:46) for their seventh and second goals of the season, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today was the first-ever meeting between the Gulls and the Spartans.
  • Swanson leads the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in scoring with 15 goals.
  • Natalia Correia (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Meghan Lehouiller (Colchester, Vt.), and Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.) each tallied assists in the victory.
  • Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) played the full 60 in net for the Gulls, saving six shots along the way.
  • She now sits in second place for total saves in the CCC with 60 on the season.
  • Endicott leads the CCC in average goal margin (3.36).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (9-2) hosts No. 1 nationally ranked Middlebury on Sunday, October 8 at 12 PM. Castleton (7-3) returns home against Western Connecticut State on Friday, October 6 at 6 PM.
