Field Hockey Falls To Colby On Senior Day, 5-3

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team dropped a tight game to Colby, 5-3, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at North Field.

Prior to the game, seniors Lindsay Bruns (Belfast, Maine)Meghan Lehouiller (Colchester, Vt.)Celia Mastromattei (Westwood, Mass.), and Jenna Seibold (Reading, Mass.) were all honored for their contributions to the field hockey program and the Endicott community.

After the Mules got on the board twice in the first two quarters, Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) cut the lead in half with just over five minutes to go before the break.

Coming out of the break, Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) tied the game midway through the third off a feed from Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.).

Colby added two more tallies to jump ahead 4-2 before Dengler answered back for the Gulls to make it 4-3 at the 51:31 mark.

However, the Mules iced the game almost five minutes later to come away with the road victory.

In goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) made five saves in 45 minutes of action.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Swanson has a goal in four of her last five games played.
  • Dengler matched her goal total from last season (13). 
  • With an assist on Dengler's goal, Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.) has an assist in each of the last three games.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-4) takes on Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 18 at 6 PM. Colby (4-8) hosts Bowdoin on Wednesday at 7 PM.
