Field Hockey Shuts Down Johnson & Wales, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Endicott field hockey team defeated Johnson & Wales, 1-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday night at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

After a scoreless first half, Abby Antonelli (Worcester, Mass.) scored off a set play from a penalty corner. Off the penalty corner insert, Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) dribbled at the top of the circle and found Antonelli on the wing to score the game-winner.

In goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) made five saves to improve to 11-4 on the season.

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • This is the first matchup between the two programs.
  • Second game-winning goal of Antonelli's career.
  • Sixth shutout of the season for the Gulls.
  • Just the second loss for Johnson & Wales this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (12-4) returns to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action when they host Western New England on Friday October 20 at 7 PM. Johnson & Wales (12-2) travels to Dean College on Sunday October 22 at 11 AM.
