BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team hosted Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Roger Williams on Saturday afternoon. Seven different Gulls tallied points while senior Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) recorded two goals and an assist to tie the programs all-time goals and assist record. Endicott soared to a 6-1 victory over the Hawks in the conference matchup. The Gulls improve to 11-2 (6-1 CCC) while the Hawks fall to 7-7 (3-4 CCC).

Endicott will see action next on Tuesday, October 14th as they host non-conference opponent Husson for a 4:00 p.m. start on North Field. The meeting will mark the first between the two squads. Roger Williams will hit the field next on Wednesday, October 15th as they host Nichols for a CCC showdown at 7:00 p.m.

The first half was a battle but the Gulls controlled the tempo as they outshot the Hawks 10-9 while earning five penalty corners to the Hawks four. In the opening minutes the Blue and Green got on the board first after Sawchuck hit her 11th goal of the season off a penalty corner which she controlled a feed from junior Ashleigh Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) and blasted the ball into the back of the net for the early lead.

Two minutes later Sawchuck went at it again after she took a pass from senior Amanda Glynn (Hampton, N.H.) and tipped the ball into the corner to give the Gulls a two goal advantage. The scoring spree would not end there as three minutes later rookie Brittany Bushey (Pittsford, Vt.) recorded her seventh goal of the season after she ripped a shot from the top of the circle that sunk into right corner for the 3-0 lead.

After a few opportunities by sophomore Stephanie Yaeger (Gansevoort, N.Y.) who forced sophomore Checka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) to make three saves, the Gulls tallied their fourth goal of the game at the 18 minute mark. Freshman Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) recorded her second goal of the season off a crisp feed from Glynn to make it a 4-0 score.

10 minutes later Endicott rookie Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.) netted her first goal in a Blue and Green uniform after Sawchuck set her up in front as she buried the ball into the back of the net. Two minutes later the Gulls tallied their sixth and final goal of the game after Larson recorded her second goal of the game to send Endicott into halftime on top 6-0.

The second half showed a fierce Gulls squad who blasted 16 shots at the Hawks and held them to just seven. Despite numerous opportunities by the Blue and Green they just could not capitalize. However the six goals in the first half would be enough as they took the victory.

Roger Williams tallied one goal in the second half in the 48th minute after freshman Juliana Miccile (Upton, Mass.) netted her fourth goal of the season on an unassisted play after she blasted the ball in from the top of the circle.

Endicott was stealthy on the defensive end as Ventura and junior Rose Bradley (Pottstown, Pa.) split time while their counterpart's freshman Meghan Augur (North Branford, Conn.) and sophomore Melora Lavoie (Poland, Maine) split duties and combined for 10 saves.
