BEVERLY, MA - Jaimie Macari (Fiskdale, MA/Tantasqua Regional) scored with 10 second remaining in the first overtime to lift Mt. Holyoke past Endicott College, 4-3, in the first round of the ECAC Tournament Wednesday in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
The seventh seeded Gulls finished 13-7-1 overall while the No. 2 Lyons (13-7) advance to face the Plymouth State/Anna Maria winner Saturday.
Annie Doton (Woodstock, VT/Woodstock Union) commenced a scoring frenzy with 17:06 left in the first half. The goal put Mt. Holyoke in front but not for long as sophomore Jennifer Rheaume (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) was set up by senior Ashley Wallace (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) for back-to-back goals that put Endicott on top 2-1 at the half.
Freshman Samantha Bourgeois (Gardner, MA/Gardner) added to the Gulls' lead 10 minutes into the second half but the lead would be shortlived as Doton and Macari scored 47 seconds apart to knot the game at 3-3.
Endicott had its best chance to win in the first overtime but Liz Colby (Belgrade, ME/Messalonskee) came out of nowhere to make a defensive save on Rheaume, who was looking to find the open net after beating the goaltender.
Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) made 10 saves in all while Wallace, playing in her final collegiate contest, stood out at midfield.
