FITCHBURG, MA - Endicott College's Michelle Berard (Ashland, MA/Ashland) netted a pair of goals to help the Gulls go on the road and beat Fitchburg State College, 3-1, Wednesday afternoon in a non-league contest.
The Falcons (13-3) had only lost two games entering the game, but the Gulls' Berard scored twice in less than two minutes in the first half to power Endicott (12-5, 4-3 CCC) to its third straight win. netted The first tally came with 23:07 left on a feed from Jennifer Beech (Devonshire, Bermuda). Sam Bourgeois (Gardner, MA/Gardner) set up the second goal with 21:54 on the clock. Bourgeois rounded out the first-half scoring with 17:48 remaining assisted by Lindsay Fallon (Southampton, NY/Southampton).
Lyndsay Woods (York, ME/York), Beech and Bree Simmers (Concord, NH/Concord) each had defensive saves in front of goaltender Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) who had eight saves (7 saves in second half). Curry is among the nation's top goaltenders in save percentage and shutouts (9).
FSC scored in the final two minutes of regulation to spoil Curry's 10th shutout. The Gulls will play Saturday in the opening round of the CCC Tournament. Opponent, site and time have yet to be determined.
