Springfield, MA--The Endicott College field hockey team lost a heartbreaker to Western New England College 3-2. The winning goal came with just 22 seconds left as WNEC forward Cori Eggert sealed the victory for the Golden Bears.
With the score tied at halftime, WNEC regained the lead with a Suzanne Loutrel goal at 45:00. This was answered with a goal by Endicott senior captain Ashley Wallace at 55:00 to even up the score 2-2. Eggert tallied the final goal at 69:38 for the win.
Also scoring for Endicott was sophomore forward Jennifer Rheaume. Junior goalkeeper Erin Curry made 2 saves for the Gulls.
With the win, WNEC (2-0) advances to the finals of the 2005 Zenaty Invitational Tournament to face Springfield College. Endicott (0-1) faces Wheaton College in their home opener on September 6.
