Curry Has 24 Saves in Gulls Loss at Keene

Oct. 30, 2003

Keene, NH - The Gulls travelled to play Keene State College on their home turf last night, Wednesday, October 29. The weather cooperated just before the 6:30 pm game time, and the Gulls took the field ready to defend their 12-6 record.

The Owls got the scoring started early with Tanya Strong scoring the first of her five goals at 25:06. EC defense came up with three defensive saves in the first half; Jen Carney (Jr/Wenham, MA) had two, while teammate Ali Beaulieu (Jr/Augusta, ME) had one. Gulls freshman goalkeeper Erin Curry (East Hampstead, NH) recorded 16 saves in the first 35:00 minutes. The Owls led 4-0 at halftime.

The Gulls held Keene's leading scorer, Strong, to just one goal in second half play. Determined to get one past Owl defense, EC scored their lone goal of the match with 1:04 minutes remaining. Jen McCormack (Jr/Milton, MA) found the back of the net to prevent the shutout.

Curry finished the game with 24 saves in goal for the Gulls.

The Gulls will return to Tupper field to play the semi-final CCC match against either Regis College or Anna Maria (to be determined in quarter-final action this Saturday). The semi-final match on Wednesday, November 5 will be at 1:30 pm on Tupper field.
