Oct. 18, 2003

Beverly, MA - The Gulls fought to hold on to first place in the CCC today against Regis at home in Beverly. The visiting Pride got a quick goal to take a 1-0 lead after just 1:23 minutes had gone by in first-half play. Endicott's Caitlin Murray (Fr/Templeton, MA) evened the score at one-all with 2:26 remaining in the half on a nice feed from Ashley Dodge (So/Athol, MA).

EC goalkeeper Kelly McNamara had four first-half saves for the Gulls on eight shots from Regis' attack. Regis attacker Kimberly Luciani had the Pride's sole goal of the game, getting just two shots off on the EC defenders in the first half. She did not have any shots in second-half play.

With the score tied at the start of the second-half, EC took control and kept possession in their offensive end. The Gulls took six penalty corners and 4 shots to finally get the game-winning goal with 1:36 minutes remaining in regulation time. Dodge got a goal of her own when she fired in a well-placed shot off a pass from forward KD Balentine (Jr/York, ME) to win the game and give EC their 10th victory this season.
