Gulls Defeated By Plymouth Panthers 0-2

Oct. 16, 2003

Plymouth, MA - After a tough loss to Bridewater State College on Tuesday, the EC field hockey team regrouped to play Plymouth State today away in Plymouth, NH. The Panthers, leading their conference, could not manage a goal in the first half of play, only getting 3 shots on Gulls keeper Kelly McNamara (Sr/Reading, MA).

EC took 4 strong shots on Plymouth goalkeeper Kerry Brady, but the score was even at 0-0 going into half-time.

Both teams fought hard to get a goal on the board, but it was Plymouth's Shannon Santamaria that finally got one in for her team with 14:39 remaining in the match. The Gulls took a penalty corner in the final minute of the game to score what would have been the tying goal had the ball come completely out of the circle on the play. The official ruling of no-goal kept the Panthers ahead by one with seconds left to play. EC attackers Caitlin Murray (Fr/Templeton, MA), KD Balentine (Jr/York, ME), Kim Doody (Jr/Laconia, NH), and Jen McCormack (Jr/Milton, MA) all had strong shots for Endicott. With just 00:03, Santamaria added her second and final goal of the match to make the score 2-0 Plymouth over Endicott.

McNamara played all 70:00 minutes in goal for the Gulls and recorded 8 saves.

Endicott returns to their home field at 1:00 pm on Saturday for their Homecoming game against conference opponent Regis College. The Gulls look to improve their conference record to 5-1.
