Endicott rallied to a 3-2 victory in playoff-style atmosphere over Roger Williams University (28-30, 30-26, 30-14, 29-31, 15-8). After coming out slow in the first game, the Gulls powered back at RWU to win the next two and regained commanding control again in the fifth.
The Gulls added to the excitement of the five-game match by setting a new school record with 14.5 total team blocks. Despite zero blocks in the first game, Moore (2 solo, 6 asst.), Morgan Tranquist (7 asst. blocks), Susan Teta (4 asst.) and Killeen Ross (4 asst.) combined for the record setting performance. Other defensive standouts were Katie Lorinovich with 22 digs and Ross with 19.
Setters Krystan Sylva and Kristen Altieri ran the offense to combine for 47 assists. Moore and Patty Mikan led the attack with 15 and 13 kills respectively. Altieri and Mikan also added five aces to the fire.
The RWU Hawks had great performances from freshman libero Ashley O'Keefe with 25 digs and outside hitter Erin Carolan with 12 kills. Jessica West added to the Hawk's efforts with 10 kills and 5 blocks.
The Gulls return to action on Thursday night with a home game against out-of-region team Oberlin College. Action begins at 7 PM at the Post Center.
