Sept. 23, 2003
Endicott College lost in three straight to Plymouth State University. PSU, currently ranked 9th on the New England Women's Volleyball Association Poll, relied on strong serving and an aggressive offense to take care of the Gulls.
Outside hitter Patty Mikan and CCC Rookie of the Week (9/22/03), Sara Moore, led the Gull attack on the Panthers, combining for 14 kills on 35 attempts. Mikan added three aces and Moore, three blocks, to Endicott's arsenal. Sophomore, Killeen Ross, continued to play strong defense, leading the team with ten digs.
The Landry sisters acted the backbone for Plymouth State on both offense and defense. Becky led the Panther's with 17 kills, while Kelly added in eight. Other standouts were Carin LaValley with a double double, ten kills and digs, and setter Amanda Bagwell with 37 assists.
The road does not get any easier for Endicott as they will look ahead to Thursday night's home match against \#5-ranked Tufts University. These tough non-conference teams should help the team prepare for this weekend CCC matches. On Saturday, the Gulls will travel to Colby-Sawyer for an 11 AM match, which will be followed by Salve Regina at 1 PM.
