Playing in their second five game match of the week, the Gulls came up short this time against Oberlin College of Ohio (26-30, 30-20, 30-23, 29-31, 12-15). After losing the first game, the Gulls came back strong in the next two, completely controlling the court. The fourth game was pivotal for the Endicott as they led 29-26, but were plagued by errors, which forced the fifth game. Freshman Sara Moore attempted to push the Gulls to victory with a team leading 14 kills in the match. Outside hitter Patty Mikan added to the attacking efforts with ten kills.
Oberlin kept the Endicott setters busy playing defense all night, Kristen Altieri led the team with 24 digs and Krystan Sylva chipped in nineteen. Killeen Ross contributed 21 digs and three service aces in the loss. Other highlights for the Gulls included the continued strong blocking of Morgan Tranquist (1 solo, 4 asst.) and Moore (1 solo, 3 asst.).
Senior standout Amber Coleman had 17 kills and 38 kills for Oberlin. Shoshannah Bramlett had 18 kills and Oneida Trainor had 4 solo blocks to shut down the Gulls. Setter Darci Leonhart put it all together for Oberlin with 45 assists.
Endicott will take the weekend off and return to action on the road with a 7 PM match at Regis College Tuesday, October 28. The Gulls look to clinch home-court advantage in the up-coming CCC Tournament with a win Tuesday night.
