Box Score

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Endicott College women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in The Commonwealth Coast Conference after it defeated Salve Regina University, 19-15, on the Lawrence Avenue field in Newport, R.I., the first time Endicott had traveled to Salve Regina since the 2002 season. The Gulls improve to 11-4 overall and 8-0 in the TCCC while Salve Regina drops to 3-10 on the season and 1-7 in the TCCC.

Nicole Fecteau (Wilbraham, Mass.) gave the Seahawks a lead at the outset with an assist from sophomore Nicole Viola (Scarborough, Maine) before Endicott junior Valerie Feldman (Albany, N.Y.) and Alex Pearce (Underhill, Vt.) responded with back-to-back goals in a 12-second span. Endicott, which had lost two consecutive non-conference contests before today's game, held a 4-2 advantage before Salve Regina went on a 5-1 run.

Brittany Marino (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) and Fecteau accounted for three of those goals while Viola and freshman Sarah Livingston (Westford, Mass.) took care of the sixth and seventh goals, respectively, for a 7-5 Seahawk lead. Gulls midfielder Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, Maine) had a game-high four goals including three free position tallies. Her second goal of the game knotted the score at eight-all with 2:07 left in the first half.

Freshman midfielder and TCCC Rookie of the Week Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) gave the Gulls a 9-8 lead before halftime. After Alicia Cunningham (Westfield, Mass.) and Viola scored early in the second half to re-tie the score at 10-all, Molly Sowles (Cumberland, Maine), Gunter, and Feldman put three straight points on the board for the visitors.

Pearce gave Endicott its biggest lead (15-11) with her third goal of the game at the 13:53 mark, but the Seahawks fought back to cut that deficit in half and trailed by only two (16-14) when freshman Maria DeRobertis (Somers, N.Y.) scored her fifth goal of the season after taking a pass from Marino on the right side. Endicott senior Rebecca Bushnell (Guilford, Conn.) scored twice before Livingston finished the scoring for Salve Regina and Gunter ended the scoring with 27 seconds left in the game.

Endicott will host Curry College on Senior Day for its 10 seniors on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for the Gulls at 2:00 p.m. The Seahawks conclude their season in Henniker, N.H., when they face New England College at 1:00 p.m.
