Women’s Basketball Tops Emerson, 67-60

BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Emerson, 67-60, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) highlighted the Gulls as both student-athletes recorded double-doubles in the win.

Laugeni stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, three assists, and one steal.

Meanwhile, Dempsey compiled a game-high/career-high 23 points (tied), 10 rebounds, two blocks, and two swipes.

Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) also chipped in 10 points to help Endicott pick up its first victory of the season.

Tied 51-51 with 7:33 remaining in the contest, the Gulls produced a 16-9 run to close out the matchup. 

Dempsey tallied a team-high 7 points during the spurt, while Laugeni (4), St. Thomas (3), Lexi Gellerman (West Hartford, Conn.), and Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) also factored into the scoring (one free throw each).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tonight's game featured six lead changes and four ties.
  • Endicott is 16-3 all-time against Emerson (three straight wins).
  • This was the first meeting between the two programs since 12/8/2011.
  • Laugeni recorded her first career double-double, while Dempsey notched her second.

Endicott (1-3) travels to Gordon on Wednesday, December 1 at 5:30 PM. Emerson (2-6) visits New England College on Thursday, December 2 at 7 PM.
