Endicott Falls to UNE in CCC Opener 66-60

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's basketball team fell to the University of New England by a 66-60 final in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both teams at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

The Gulls cut the deficit to one at 61-60 with 2:18 remaining after a Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) free throw, before the Nor'Easters converted five three throws over the remaining two minutes to close out the game. 

Dempsey led the Gulls with her first collegiate double-double, scoring 13 points (5-14 FG, 3-4 FT) while securing a career-high 10 rebounds in 30 minutes of play. 

Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished just a rebound shy of a double-double, with 10 points (2-11 FG, 6-10 FT) and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lexi Gellerman (West Hartford, Conn.) and Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) each recorded nine points, as Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) finished with eight.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The two teams have split the last six games in the series, dating back to 2019.
  • Gellerman also finished with nine rebounds, the second-highest total in the contest.
  • Endicott held a 46-34 advantage on the glass as the Gulls grabbed 23 offensive and defensive rebounds.
  • Mariah Chamberlain (Jaffrey, N.H.) finished with a season-high seven points and four rebounds.

Endicott (0-3, 0-1 CCC) takes the court again on Tuesday when the Gulls travel to Emerson for a 7 PM tip while UNE (2-4, 1-0 CCC) hosts No. 13 Bowdoin on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.
