NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott softball team split a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader with host Salve Regina Saturday afternoon at Toppa Field by winning game one 1-0, before falling 3-0 in game two.
GAME 1 – Endicott 1, Salve Regina 0
The lone run of the game came in the top of the first inning as senior catcher Emily Hoffman's (Malden, Mass.) RBI groundout brought home sophomore center fielder Casie Beauchemin (Lincoln, R.I.).
Senior pitcher Courtney Blake (East Islip, N.Y.) scattered six hits and fanned five batters as she went the distance en route to her seven win of the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Blake tossed her seventh complete-game of the season and is now third in the conference in wins (7-6).
- Blake threw her third shutout of the season (second consecutive).
- The Gulls recorded their third consecutive shutout victory and fourth overall this season.
- Junior right fielder Julia McNeill (Smithtown, N.Y.) paced the Gulls with three hits (one double) and stole one base.
- Freshman designated player Hayley Arduini (Southington, Conn.) drilled her first career triple to left center in the top of the seventh inning.
FOR THE FOES
- Sophomore second baseman Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.) led the Seahawks with three of the team's six hits out of the nine hole and stole one base.
- Junior pitcher Kelsey Boarman (North Dighton, Mass.) suffered her sixth loss of the season (5-6) in the complete-game effort (7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K).
GAME 2 – Salve Regina 3, Endicott 0
The Seahawks put up solo tallies in the second, third, and fourth innings and as senior pitcher Nicole Parry (Quincy, Mass.) limited the Gulls to six hits and one walk while striking out five in a complete-game victory for her fifth win of the season (5-6).
Freshman pitcher Laura Somerville (Suffield, Conn.) took the loss (4-3) in six innings of work as she surrendered three runs on seven hits (one home run) and sat down seven by way of the K.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls were shut out for the fourth time this season.
- Senior left fielder Jamie Corda (Higganum, Conn.) paced the Gulls with two of the team's six hits while tallying her fifth double on the year.
FOR THE FOES
- Freshman left fielder Lindsey Florent (New Bedford, Mass.) collected a game-high three hits (one double) and scored one run.
- Junior center fielder Lexi Soucie (North Easton, Mass.) smashed her first home run of the season as a solo shot down the left field line in the fourth inning.

- The Gulls are 31-10 all-time and 9-8 on the road at Salve Regina dating back to March 30, 2000.
- The Seahawks swept the Gulls (10-2, 6-1) in a conference doubleheader in Beverly, Mass. on April 21, 2015 in the most recent meeting before today.
