Gulls Blank North Shore Rivals, Salem State 9-0

SALEM, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled over the bridge to Salem State on Thursday afternoon for a non-conference, North Shore Cup matchup. Sophomores Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) and Clay Arnold (Ivoryton, Conn.) did not drop a game in singles play to help boost the Gulls to a 9-0 victory over the Vikings. Endicott improves to 2-4 overall while Salem State falls to 0-3 on the season.

In doubles play juniors Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) earned the first victory of the afternoon in the #3 slot as they defeated their opponents 8-1.  (#2) Junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and CCC Rookie and Player of the Week Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) earned an 8-2 decision followed by (#1) senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and Dolph wrapping up doubles play with an 8-2  win to take the early 3-0 lead entering singles play.

Ross finished up first in the #1 slot 6-0, 6-1 while (#3) Dolph secured the victory with the fifth win of the afternoon in his 6-0, 6-0 decision. (#4) Lauretano took his opponent 6-0, 6-2 while Forance had the toughest match of the afternoon as he was able to hold a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the #2 position. Arnold (6-0, 6-0) and junior Justin Warshavky (6-0, 6-1) wrapped up singles play with victories as the Gulls took the 9-0 decision.

Endicott is set to take the courts next on Saturday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Roger Williams.
