Men’s Tennis Starts 2014 Season with 9-0 Victory on the Road

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Endicott men's tennis team started their 2014 season on the road as they traveled to Saint Anselm for a non-conference matchup. The Gulls swept the Hawks 9-0 to pick up their first win on the spring season as they improve to 1-3 overall while Saint Anselm falls to 0-6.

The Blue and Green were a force in the doubles matches only losing four games as a whole.  The #3 pair, junior Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and junior Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) earned the first victory of the afternoon with their 8-0 decision. The #1 pair, senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) followed suit with the 8-1 victory. To wrap up play before the singles took the court, #2 pair, junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and rookie Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) took the 8-3 advantage to enter singles play with the 3-0 lead.

Endicott held strong in singles play as they did not lose a single set. Forance (#3) took the first match as he held strong claiming a 6-1, 6-1 triumph followed by Dolph who sealed the fifth win with a 6-0, 6-1 score. (#1) Ross saw the toughest competition but he came out on top with his 6-3, 6-2 decision. To wrap up play (#4) Laurentano, (#5) McAndrews and in the #6 spot, junior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) all finished in two sets.

The Blue and Green will see action next on Saturday, March 22 at 12:00 p.m. when they travel to Bentley for a non-conference matchup followed by another non-conference game the next day on the 23rd when they travel to Southern Maine before they start Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on the 26th when they host Eastern Nazarene.
