Men’s Tennis Falls to Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled to regional opponent, Southern Maine on Sunday evening. Despite their efforts, specifically in doubles play the Gulls fell to the Huskies 9-0. The Blue and Green fall to 1-4 overall while the Huskies improve to 3-3.

To start off the evening with doubles play all members of the Blue and Green put up a fight. Finishing up first, the #3 pair in junior Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and junior Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) fell to their opponents in an 8-3 decision. Giving the best doubles match of the night, the #2 pair, junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and junior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) were edged 8-4 while senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) fell to their opponents 8-3 in the #1 slot.

Entering singles play down 0-3 the Gulls worked to catch up with efforts from Rookie Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) as he played the best singles match of the night forcing three sets before falling to his opponent Thaddeus St. John (Weld, Maine) 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 10-8. Also playing hard was Dolph who dropped the 6-4, 6-3 close decision. The Huskies were able to wrap up play with the 9-0 victory to move to an even .500, 3-3 on the season.

Endicott will see action next on Wednesday, March 26th at 3:30 p.m. when they host their first game of the season while facing Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Eastern Nazarene to start off conference play.
