Pair of Gulls Earn Weekly Honors

BEVERLY, MA - Josh Schoen (Phoenix, AZ/Arcadia) and Dan Murray (Coventry, RI/Bishop Hendricken) were both recognized by the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Monday for their play in three CCC victories including the Gulls first ever post season win last week.

Schoen, the 2006 CCC Rookie of the Year and an All Conference selection, was named the CCC Player of the Week as he led the way for the Gulls as the No. 1 singles player. The sophomore posted a 3-0 record in individual play, earning a trio of straight-set victories over CCC competition. In doubles action he and teammate Dan Murray won three doubles contests as the team's No. 1 pair.

Freshman Dan Murray was named the CCC Rookie of the Week as he went 6-0 overall, including a 3-0 showing with doubles teammate Josh Schoen. In singles action Murray put together three consecutive straight-set wins playing as the Gulls second singles player.

Schoen, Murray and the Gulls return to action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Newport, RI to square-off with top-seeded Salve Regina University in the CCC semifinals. Salve Regina is the five-time defending CCC Champions and have won 57 straight Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season matches. The Gulls and the Seahawks are scheduled for a 3:30 start tomorrow.
