NEWPORT, RI - For the second straight day Salve Regina University junior Jason Lago (Seabrook, N.H.) rallied for a three-set victory at No. 2 singles as the Seahawks defeated the Gulls of Endicott College, 9-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match today in Newport.

Lago and Robbie Norton (JR/Exeter, N.H.) got the day started with an 8-5 decision at first doubles while Collin Cunningham (SO/Wethersfield, CT) and Andrew Martin (FR/Glastonbury, CT) posted an 8-1 victory at third doubles. Michael Collins (JR/Winchester, MA) and Steve Masso (FR/No. Scituate, R.I.)grabbed an 8-1 win at second doubles in a match that featured long rallies at the net by both teams.

Norton continued his dominance at the No. 1 singles position, scoring a 6-1,6-1 victory (now undefeated in the league with a 6-0 mark; he has outmatched his opponents in games, 72-3). Lago, Martin, and Masso remain undefeated in conference singles play as well. Endicott's Dan Murray (FR/Coventry, R.I.), former teammates with Masso at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, pushed Lago to his second straight three-set singles match.

Adam Troutman (JR/Wethersfield, CT) recorded a straight-set win at sixth singles as Salve Regina (10-6; 7-0 CCC) won for the 56th time in a row against regular-season league competition. During that streak, the Seahawks have won 436 individual matches. The five-time defending champions clinched at least a tie for the No. 1 seed with today's victory.
