Tennis Wins Home Opener 7-2

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College men's tennis team topped cross town rivals Salem State College 7-2 in a non-conference match up on South Campus Wednesday afternoon.

The Gulls put the match out of reach early sweeping the singles competition and taking a 6-0 lead into doubles. Josh Schoen (Phoenix, AZ/Arcadia) took first singles 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, he then teamed up with second singles winner Dan Murray (Coventry, RI/Bishop Hendricken) to win first doubles 8-4.

Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Houston, TX/Second Baptist) took third singles 6-2, 6-7, 6-0 while Scott Teller came from behind to win fourth singles 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Marc Maloney (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) and Brian Sonneborn (Rye, NH/St Thomas Aquinas) picked up straight set victories, 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-0, to win at fifth and sixth singles.

The win improves EC's record to 3-4 overall, the Gulls open up their Commonwealth Coast Conference schedule Saturday March 31 when they host Wentworth Institute of Technology at noon on the South Campus courts.
