The Gulls were caught off guard yesterday by a hungry New England College team, losing 6-1 in Henniker, NH. Endicott (6-4-1) has struggled as of late, going 1-3 over the last 2 weeks, while dropping from first to fourth place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. With the win NEC improved to 5-4-1 overall and 2-4 in the CCC.
From the opening whistle NEC dominated, scoring goals at the 12, 13 and 32nd minute marks before EC could add one of their own. At the 37-minute mark, sophomore Chris Croteau received a through ball from junior Daniel Duvernoy and poked it by the NEC goalkeeper. The goal would be the only one on the day for the Gulls. The score was 3-1 going into the half.
The second half brought more disappointment for the Gulls. NEC added goals at the 62, 78, and 86th minute marks to give NEC the 6-1 victory. Picking up the win in goal for NEC was Mike Lombardi who recorded 5 saves and in goal for Endicott was Colin Kemble who had 1 save on the afternoon.
The Gulls look to get back on track Thursday at home versus Tufts University. Kick-off time is 6pm.
