The EC men's soccer team have found their groove and continued in their undefeated conference play yesterday versus Eastern Nazarene. With everything falling into place, EC defeated Eastern Nazarene College, 7-0, improving their record to 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The first half was dominated by EC. Only 3:20 into the half, freshman Pranam Lipinski sent a bullet to the upper right corner of the net which proved to be the game winner. The assist went to senior Josh Lewis. Only moments later, EC made it 2-0 when Lipinski sent a through ball to senior Pete Mendel which he cleverly slipped into the back net. And EC kept on coming. At the 38:00 minute mark, junior Captain Daniel Duvernoy sent a blazing shot from 25 yards out which grazed the post and became EC's 3rd goal of the day. EC would end the half scoring on a goal by senior Cody Barbierri with only 1 second remaining.
The second half was much of the same. EC was relentless in their attack only allowing 3 shots on goal. Freshman Elias Carrero opened scoring at the 18:00 mark on a short pass by Lipinski. Lipinski in his best game as a college player registered two assists and a goal. Again EC struck in the 22:00 when sophomore Chris Croteau stole the ball from an Eastern Nazarene defender and dribbled by the goalie. The goal was one of the more impressive ones on the day. Finally, senior Josh Lewis would close the scoring at the 30 minute mark on a break away, with the assist going to Mendel.
The Gulls continue conference play away against Colby Sawyer on Saturday at 3pm.
