SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The Endicott men's rugby team went 7-0 at the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) 7's Qualifier on Saturday to punch its ticket to the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) National Championships.
The Gulls smashed through group play with a 4-0 record beating Mass Maritime (26-0), Wheaton (24-0), Stonehill (38-5), and Bridgewater State (54-0).
Endicott kept its momentum going with dominant wins in the quarterfinals (Johnson & Wales, 55-0) and semifinals (Mass. Maritime, 31-5) before defeating Bryant, 29-10, for the CCRC title.
The Gulls outscored their opponents 257-20 on the day.
The Men of the Tournament were Jordan Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.), Mike Nunez (Holyoke, Mass.), Riki Kanamaru (Shinagawa, Japan), and Teyshawn Jackson (Windsor, Conn.).
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott has earned the automatic qualifier into the NCR National 7's Tournament which takes place from May 28-30 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
