Three Gulls Named To NCR New England All-Star Team

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's rugby student-athletes Matthew Bant (Jenkintown, Pa.), Brad DiGiacomo (Simsbury, Conn.), and Matthew Gash-Gilder (Kalispell, Mont.) have been selected to the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) New England All-Star Team, as announced by the organization earlier this week.

Bant, DiGiacomo, and Gash-Gilder will represent the Gulls in the NCR National Shield Challenge from January 15-16 in Houston, Texas at AVEVA Stadium, home of the Houston SabreCats.

The 15s Tournament will feature eight teams, including two from New England. In addition to the All-Star teams, each region may also form a Rising Stars team that includes emerging All-Star-caliber student-athletes.

This year's All-Star tournament is expected to draw Major League Rugby (MLR) and national team scouts.


YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott, who was ranked as high as No. 3 in the country throughout the fall season, finished its 2021 campaign with a 6-1 record en route to defeating No. 14 Salve Regina in the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) Championship, 38-14.

From there, the Gulls advanced to the NCR Northeast Regional Championship, but, ultimately fell to No. 6 Holy Cross, 34-27, in the title game.
