Second Half Comeback Propels No. 18 Men's Lacrosse Past Nazareth, 14-12

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 18 Endicott men's lacrosse team took down Nazareth, 14-12, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) led the way for the Gulls with three goals and two assists.

Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) (3), Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) (2), and Brendan Batchen (Buffalo, N.Y.) (2) all registered multi-goal performances. Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.), Colt Green (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.), Curtis Redd (Amherst, N.H.), and Matt Wright (Oregon City, Ore.) contributed one goal each in the contest.

In goal, Christopher Tillotson (Monroe, Conn.) stopped four shots in 30 minutes of play to improve his record to 2-0 on the season. Teagan Alexander (Foxboro, Mass.) made seven saves in the first half.

Trailing 8-6 going into the second half, Endicott started off the third quarter scoring three unanswered goals, putting them back in front by one, 9-8. Green, Wright, and Fernandez found the back of the net in the run (14:09-5:42). Nazareth followed with a man-up game-tying tally with 2:51 left in the third as the two teams headed into the fourth quarter knotted up at nine apiece.

In the final 15 minutes, the two teams alternated goals with no lead growing more than one for either side. The Golden Flyers got on the board 2:31 into the fourth quarter, but the Gulls responded as Batchen and Graap regained Endicott's 11-10 lead with 8:05 to play. A two-goal run by Nazareth was answered by Favreau's second goal of the game 20 seconds later, tying the game for the final time with 4:37 to play.

Graap then put Endicott ahead for good with 2:09 to play after Redd was able to beat his defender and force a slide, which left the Yorktown Heights, N.Y. native open on the left wing as he buried it into the bottom right-hand corner to give the Gulls a 13-12 lead. After a Nazareth timeout, Matt Cawley (Westwood, Mass.) forced a turnover with about 25 seconds left as he intercepted a Nazareth pass, and the Gulls were able to successfully clear, setting up Favreau's third goal of the game and sealing the 14-12 victory.
