Men's lacrosse set for rematch with Springfield
The No.14 Endicott men’s lacrosse successfully defended its The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) title after defeating host and top-seeded Western New England 13-12 in overtime. The Gulls (15-4) are making their second straight and seventh overall NCAA tournament appearance.

Senior duo Chris Cotter (Lordship, Conn.) and Jack Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.) lead the nation’s sixth-highest scoring offense with 58 and 57 points, respectively. Sophomore Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) has emerged as the team’s leading goal scorer with 40.

Sophomore Mike Klein (Darien, Conn.) has made 147 stops in goal for Endicott and is 13-3 this season. Klein has also benefited from a strong defensive unit in front of him. Robert Crossett (Katonah, N.Y.), Kevin Downes (Cheshire, Conn.), and Andrew Pochebit (Portland, Maine) have been a consistent force all season long, starting alongside one another in every game.

Springfield earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year as champions of the Pilgrim Lacrosse League. The Pride currently stands at 11-5 overall and feature a marquee non-conference win over then-No. 17 Nazareth at the beginning of the year.

Shawn Runyon (Fairport, N.Y.) and Mike Delia (Wading River, N.Y.) lead the attack with 45 and 44 points, respectively. Pilgrim League Player of the Year Mark Eaton (Westford, Mass.) has secured a team-high 114 ground balls and boasts a .675 win percentage in face-offs. On Wednesday afternoon he will compete with Endicott’s Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.), who has won 66% of his face-offs on the year.

Earlier this year, then-No. 18 Springfield visited Beverly for a matchup with unranked Endicott. The Gulls used a strong fourth quarter to defeat the Pride 9-6 and pick up their first win of the year. The Blue and Green used the momentum from that victory to take nine of their next ten games including a 9-8 upset of No. 1 Tufts in mid-April.

Wednesday’s opening round game begins at 4:00 pm.
