Beverly, Mass. – Host Endicott outscored Nichols 21-1 in the first half en route to a 28-2 The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) victory in men’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. Six different Gulls recorded multiple goals including four hat tricks.

Sophomore Brian Estes (Derry, N.H.) led all scorers with four goals on four shots while teammates Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.), Justin Sproul (Londonderry, N.H.), and Chris Cotter (Lordship, Conn.) each had three. Endicott also went with the goalie-by-committee approach, as five different netminders combined to make three saves in the win.

Nichols was led by Devan Maher’s (Leominster, Mass.) two goals. Freshman goalie Matt McGue (Quincy, Mass.) made 13 stops in the loss.

McCormack opened the scoring with an unassisted tally less than three minutes into the game before Maher connected for his first less than a minute later. The Gulls took advantage of a man-up opportunity at 10:38 as Cotter found McCormack to give the Gulls a 2-1 lead.

That goal ignited a 26-0 run into the fourth quarter to help Endicott improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the TCCC.

Chris Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.) scored his first goal of the season 15 seconds after McCormack to make it 3-1.   The hosts tacked on seven more goals in the first period to take a 10-1 lead into the second.

Cotter opened the second period scoring 12 seconds in to complete the hat trick before Brian Vincent (Norwalk, Conn.) and Sproul followed suit with two each to increase the lead to 15-1. Endicott added six more before the half to take a 20-point lead into the break.

Chris O’Brien (Hampden, Mass.) and Connor Prescott (Norwalk, Conn.) each scored their first goals of the season in the opening five minutes of the third period before Harry Holden (Duxbury, Mass.) connected for two straight to close out the quarter.

Maher stopped the bleeding with 4:26 to go in the game on an assist from Brian Gattie (Plainfield, N.H.). Freshman Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with just under two minutes to go.

Endicott outshot Nichols (2-3, 1-2 TCCC) 59-15 and won 22 of 33 face-offs on the day.

The Gulls return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Williams for 4 pm non-conference matchup. The Bison travel to Gordon College for a 4 pm game the same day.
