Eleven Gulls honored as All-TCCC selections
2011 All-TCCC Men's Lacrosse Selections

The Endicott men’s lacrosse squad was well-represented on the 2011 All-TCCC teams as it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Four Gulls were named First Team members, five Second Team honorees, a Honorable Mention and the league’s Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Senior midfielder Chris Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.) has shown over his four years that he is an exemplary model of a student-athlete and for his hard work, the TCCC honored Gugino as this year’s Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. On the field, Gugino is a four-year starter and this year, as one of the team’s captains, was a strong defensive component for the Gulls, picking up 57 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers while collecting 12 points. 

Off the field, he achieved a 3.70 GPA as a Business major resulting in TCCC Academic All-Conference honors three years in-a-row and several Endicott academic awards including Academic Varsity Club status. A member of several clubs, an active admissions tour guide for four years, and a participant in many community service projects locally and around the world, Gugino proved to be the all-around student. After internships with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Realgy Energy Services and Gorton’s, Gugino has secured a full-time position with as an executive at Gorton’s after graduation. As a member of the Endicott men’s lacrosse team, Gugino has garned two ECAC Championships, a TCCC title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament. 

The four Endicott players that earned First Team All-TCCC honors included seniors Chris Cotter (Lordship, Conn.), Robert Crossett (Katonah, N.Y.), Andrew Pochebit (Portland, Maine) and junior Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.). Cotter leads the team in points with 51 on 28 goals and 23 assists. Crossett and Pochebit have anchored the Gulls defense all season long, causing a combined 68 turnovers, scooping up 116 ground balls, while allowing just 5.90 goals per game in conference match ups. Ozycz, the team’s short-stick specialist was stellar on face offs this season winning 233-of-357 (65.3%) opportunities, grabbing a team-high 165 ground balls while scoring 10 points on seven goals and three assists. 

Endicott’s Second Team All-TCCC members were seniors Jack Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Kevin Downes (Cheshire, Conn.) and sophomores Brian Estes (Derry, N.H.), Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.), and Mike Klein (Darien, Conn.). McCormack is Endicott’s leading goal scorer this season with 35 tallies while Estes and Curtis are not far behind with 30 and 24 goals, respectively. Downes, a part of that stifling Gulls defense, caused 12 turnovers and had 29 ground balls. Klein was solid in the cage as the Endicott goalie, making 118 saves and saving 55.1% of shots against him. He allowed only 6.94 goals against in league games. 

Wrapping up the All-TCCC accolades is senior midfielder Kyle Jordan (Falmouth, Maine) who earned a Honorable Mention nod. Jordan accumulated 18 points thus far this season on 16 goals and two assists.

The Blue and Green, as the \#2 seed in the TCCC Tournament, are hosting the \#7 seed University of New England on Saturday, April 30th at 11:00 am in the quarterfinals. Endicott defeated UNE 20-6 on the road earlier in the regular season.
