ECAC All-Stars announced, flock of Gulls honored

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its annual Division III men's lacrosse all-stars on Wednesday, and Endicott College was well represented. Junior Nick Cosco (Londonderry, N.H.) was named the Player of the Year, while sophomore goalie Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, Mass.) was awarded Goalkeeper of the Year honors. In total, five Gulls were recognized by the ECAC.

Cosco takes home ECAC Player of the Year recognition after being named a USILA All-American, an NEILA All-New England recipient, and the 2008 TCCC Offensive Player of the Year. Cosco had a team-high 58 goals along with 29 assists, leading The Commonwealth Coast Conference with 87 total points. The junior attackman was amongst the top-25 in the nation in scoring.

Eric Hagarty posted the third-best save percentage in the nation (68.0%) while anchoring the top goals against defense in the United States (5.43 GAA). Hagarty was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and was awarded a USILA All-American Honorable Mention honor.

John Ortolani (Billerica, Mass.) was also placed on the ECAC First Team after he compiled a dominate season at the midfield X for the Blue and Green. The Endicott face-off specialist went 261-of-380 in draws (68.7%), while scooping up a team-high 163 groundballs. Ortolani's winning percentage off the face-off was second-best in the nation.

ECAC Second Team honors were presented to Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, Mass.) and senior Lucien Bolduc (South Windsor, Conn.). O'Reilly, a USILA All-American Honorable Mention, posted 49 goals and 15 assists in 2008. The junior midfielder averaged over three points a game last season. Bolduc was a USILA Academic All-American and finished second on the team in groundballs with 58.
