BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's basketball forward Marcus Montagnino (Gloucester, Mass.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
In Endicott's two-game, 0-1 week (loss to No. 13 nationally ranked Tufts; exhibition loss to Division I UNH), Montagnino scored 26 total points, pulled down five rebounds, dished out five assists, snatched three blocks, and swiped five steals.
On Wednesday, the Gulls traveled to Durham, New Hampshire for an exhibition contest against the University of New Hampshire. The Gulls fell 78-64, but the result did not count towards the team's record (it does count as a win for UNH). In the matchup, Montagnino dropped 11 points (4-8 FG), swiped a game-high four steals, dimed out three assists, scooped up two rebounds, and swatted a block in 33 minutes.
He followed up with a 15-point (5-12 FG, 1-2 3PT, 4-4 FT), two-block, two-assist, three-rebound, and one-steal showing at No. 13 nationally ranked Tufts in a 81-69 loss on Saturday.
This marks Montagnino's second career CNE Rookie of the Week award (11/18/24).
